Aftermath

Well, we're home. All's well. Turns out she had a wire that was broken. It was one of the wires going from the battery pack in her lower back up to a connection point near her shoulder blade. That was a good thing because it means she didn't have to endure a total replacement of the leads in her head. The doctor said he thought, and Candice later confirmed, that the procedure was easier on her than the ones in the past.

So now we're home and she is asleep on the couch sleeping off a big shot of Demerol.

We'll post more in the coming days to let you know how she's doing.

My mom was high as a kite yesterday after her surgery. She thought she just felt fine and dandy til it wore off. :)

Glad she's asleep and getting some rest.

Did Brena find a loving home??

Poor Jane, lol.

Not yet, but it's still a possibility. Keep your fingers crossed for her. We are going to see if they want to watch her the weekend of the shower as a trial.

I am glad your surgery went well. Get well soon.

The more morbid parts of Dr. Drain are disappointed in the lack of pictures of open-skull surgery ("oooh, look, there is Candice's medula oblongata!"), but overall, I'm glad to hear you made it through quickly, safely, and with minimal discomfort. Heal fast. :-)
